Days
after the ban of the notes saw people with mixed reactions. While rural
population and farmers were seen to some extent unaffected by this trans-formative step; people in cities and urban areas complained and seemed
troubled due to the note ban as they had to take out their time after office
hours to stand in ATM queues for cash withdrawal.
Municipal
authorities and revenue departments, however, gained profits and also got
record old dues recovered. Police also found old notes stashed in jute bags at
many places which were left in order to get rid of overloaded old notes. Indian
economy that largely depends on cash faced sluggishness and also led to a halt
in rural economy.
