Born
on 9 October 1939 in the village of Parwa in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra,
Shri Mahesh Elkunchwar is recognized as a leading figure in Indian drama. He is
based in Nagpur, where he took his Master’s degree in English (1963), and where
he has taught at the Dharampeth Arts, Commerce and M P Deo Memorial Science
College for almost forty years (1963-2000). He has been guest faculty at the
National School of Drama, New Delhi, intermittently over these years, and has taught
writing screenplay at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune
(2000-01).

अक्तूबर
1939 को महाराष्ट्र के यवतमाल जिले के परवा गाँव
में हुआ था। श्री ऐलकुंछवर की भारतीय नाटक जगत में एक अग्रणी व्यक्ति के रूप में
पहचान है। वह नागपुर में रह रहे हैं, जहां उन्होंने अंग्रेज़ी में
मास्टर डिग्री (1963) प्राप्त की है, और जहां उन्होंने धरमपेठ कला,
वाणिज्य
और एम.पी. देव मेमोरियल विज्ञान महाविद्यालय में लगभग चालीस वर्षों (1963-2000)
तक शिक्षा
प्रदान की हुई है। इन वर्षों में उन्होंने नेशनल स्कूल ऑफ ड्रामा,
नई
दिल्ली में अतिथि-संकाय में रहते हुए पुणे के भारतीय फ़िल्म एवं टेलीविज़न संस्थान
में पटकथा लेखन की शिक्षा (2000-01) प्रदान की हुई है।
