Smart India Hackathon

PARAM-ISHAN

1. PARAM ISHAN is the fastest and most powerful computer. It has been jointly developed by IIT Guwahati and C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing).

2. It has a peak computing power of 250 Teraflops and three hundred tera bites capacity.

3. It can be used research initiatives such as computational chemistry, computational electromagnetic, computational fluid dynamics, civil engineering structures, nana-block self-assemble, optimization etc.

4. It can be also used for Weather, climate modeling and seismic data processing.

Dividend: A share of the after-tax profit of a company, distributed to its shareholders according to the number and class of shares held by them. Start-ups and other high-growth companies such as those in the technology or biotechnology sectors rarely offer dividends because all of their profits are reinvested to help sustain higher-than-average growth and expansion. Larger, established companies tend to issue regular dividends as they seek to maximize shareholder wealth in ways aside from supernormal growth.

Some tips for successful Group Discussion (GD)

1. A complete understanding and knowledge of the current political economic and social scene within the country and outside. Regularly reading newspaper, magazine and news channels will help in it.

2. Confidence in speaking with correct pronunciation audible to evaluator sitting two meters away. 

3. Organise your thoughts before speaking.

4. Don’t repeat the same point time and again.

5. Don’t conclude when discussion is in its full flow.

6. Observe the reaction of the group to your contributions.

7. Your body language should reflect your interest by maintaining eye-contact while speaking.

8. Don’t speak irrelevant but only three to four relevant points to pass the GD.

9. If GD is given an abstract topic, relate it to humanity, morals, and ethics.

10. Be active and not passive except some time when it needs.

11. Try to be the first speaker showing leadership quality by making valid contribution.

12. If you don’t have valid points to contribute, then wait and only enter the discussion at the appropriate time.

13. Always be polite and cut in gently when someone in speaking.

TDS: Tax deducted at source (TDS), as the very name implies aims at collection of revenue at the very source of income. It is essentially an indirect method of collecting tax which combines the concepts of “pay as you earn” and “collect as it is being earned.” Its significance to the government lies in the fact that it prepones the collection of tax, ensures a regular source of revenue, provides for a greater reach and wider base for tax. At the same time, to the tax payer, it distributes the incidence of tax and provides for a simple and convenient mode of payment.

Lease: A legal document outlining the terms under which one party agrees to rent property from another party. A lease guarantees the lessee (the renter) use of an asset and guarantees the lessor (the property owner) regular payments from the lessee for a specified number of months or years. Both the lessee and the lessor must uphold the terms of the contract for the lease to remain valid.

E-FILING: Electronic tax filing, or e-filing, is a system for submitting tax documents to a revenue service electronically, often without the need to submit any paper documents. E-filing has manifold benefits; the taxpayer can file a tax return from the comfort of home, at any convenient time, once the tax agency begins accepting returns. E-filing saves the tax agency time and money, because the tax data is transmitted directly into its computers, significantly reducing the possibility of keying and input errors.

Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI): Established in 1927, FICCI is the largest and oldest apex business organization in India. A non-government, not-for profit organisation, FICCI is the voice of India’s business and industry. From influencing policy to encouraging debate, engaging with policy makers and civil society, FICCI articulates the views and concerns of industry.

ISI Mark: ISI (Indian Standards Institute) mark is a certification mark for industrial products in India. The mark certifies that a product confirms to the Indian Standard, mentioned as IS: xxxx on top of the mark, developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The ISI mark is mandatory for certifying products to be sold in India, like many of the electrical appliances, kitchen appliances, other products like LPG valves, LPG cylinders, automotive tyres, etc.

Employees’ State Insurance (ESI): ESI is a self-financing social security & health insurance scheme for Indian workers. The ESI is managed by the ESI Corporation (ESIC) according to rules and regulations stipulated there in the ESI Act 1948, which oversees the provision of medical and cash benefits to the employees and their family through its large network of branch offices, dispensaries and hospitals throughout India.

मैं प्रशिक्षु अनुवादकों केे हित में व्‍यावहारिक अनुवाद (अंग्रेज़ी-हिंदी-अंग्रेज़ी) श्रृंखला पुन: प्रारंभ करने जा रहा हूँ। मैं नियमित रूप से अनुवाद व्‍यवहार अभ्‍यास इस ब्‍लॉग पर पोस्‍ट करने का प्रयास करता रहूँगा। अनुवाद व्‍यवहार अभ्‍यास का प्रस्‍तावित अनुवाद (कुंजी) भी पोस्‍ट के नीचे टिप्‍पणी बॉक्‍स में दिया जाता रहेगा। आप अपना अनुवाद और मेरे प्रस्‍तावित अनुवाद पर अपनी टिप्‍पणियां नीचे टिप्‍पणी बॉक्‍स में पेश कर सकते हैं। आशा है कि इस प्रयास से अनुवाद-प्रशिक्षुगण लाभान्वित होंगे।

I am going to start a Practical Translation (English-Hindi-English) Series in the interest of trainee translators. I shall be trying my best to post Practical Translation Exercises on this blog regularly. Proposed translation (Key) of practical translation exercise will also be made available in the below Comments box. You may also furnish your translation and comments on my proposed translation in the below Comments box. I hope this effort will be beneficial for translation-trainees.


                                             
PRACTICAL TRANSLATION EXERCISE - 01 


A non-governmental organization (NGO) is an organization that is neither a part of a government nor   conventional for profit business. The term “non-governmental organization” was first coined in 1945, when the United Nations (UN) was created. The UN, itself an inter-governmental organization, made it possible for certain approved specialized international non-state agencies, i.e. non-governmental organizations to be awarded observer status at its assemblies and some of its meetings. Later the term became used more widely. Today, according to the UN, any kind of private organization that is independent from government control can be termed an “NGO”, provided it is not for- profit, non prevention, and not simply an opposition political party. Examples include improving the state of the natural environment, encouraging the observance of human rights, improving the welfare of the disadvantaged, or representing a corporate agenda. However, there are a huge number of such organizations and their goals cover a broad range of political and philosophical positions. This can also easily be applied to private schools and athletic organizations.

पुरी (ओडिशा) में ‘ज्ञान-गंगा’ में डुबकी

       राष्‍ट्रीय उत्‍पादकता परिषद्, भारत (वाणिज्‍य एवं उद्योग मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के अधीन) द्वारा भगवान जगननाथ की नगरी पुरी (ओडिशा) में 27-31 जनवरी 2020 के दौरान ‘’एडवांस कोर्स ऑन आरटीआई एक्‍ट, 2005 एंड मॉडर्न मेनेजमेंट प्रैक्टिसिस’’ विषय पर प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम रूपी ‘ज्ञान-गंगा’ प्रवाहित की गई। मुझे इस ‘ज्ञान-गंगा’ में डुबकी लगाने के साथ-साथ भारतीय संस्‍कृति के विभिन्‍न रंग देखने का भी सुअवसर प्राप्‍त हुआ। ‘ज्ञान-गंगा’ में डुबकी लगाने वालों में देश के विभिन्‍न प्रदेशों के अधिकारीगण मौजूद थे। ‘ज्ञान-गंगा’ की अमृत बूँदों रसास्‍वादन करवाने वाले प्रशिक्षकगण अपने-अपने क्षेत्रों के माहिर प्रशिक्षक थे जिन्‍होंने अपनी-अपनी विशेष शैलियों के माध्‍यम से गूढ़ विषयों को बहुत ही सहजता से हमारे सामने रखा। इस प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम के प्रतिभागियों ने एक ओर जहाँ ज़हन (दिमाग) में अपनी अमिट छाप छोड़ी, वहीं दूसरी ओर ‘ज्ञान-गंगा’ को हमारे बीच लाने का दायित्‍व निभाने वाले प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम के संयोजक श्री अशोक कुमार जी और विशेष प्रशिक्षक डा. सोहन सिंह चंदेल, मनोवैज्ञानिक ने अपने-अपने ज्ञान तथा अभिव्‍यक्ति-शैली से हृदयावृंद में विशेष स्‍थान बनाया। प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम बहुत ही ज्ञानवर्धक एवं उपयोगी रहा जिसका लाभ हम कार्यालयी कार्यों के कुशल निष्‍पादन में अनवरत् करते रहेंगे।

      

       राष्‍ट्रीय उत्‍पादकता परिषद् एक ओर जहाँ सरकारी एवं गैर-सरकारी अधिकारियों को प्रशिक्षित करने का काम कर रहा है वहीं दूसरी ओर विभिन्‍न प्रदेशों/संस्‍कृतियों के लोगों को एक मंच पर लाकर विचारों के परस्‍पर आदान-प्रदान का पुनीत कार्य भी कर रहा है। इस महत्‍वपूर्ण संस्‍था के सुनियोजित प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम में प्रशिक्षित होने के साथ-साथ पुरी और भुवनेश्‍वर में भगवान जगन्‍नाथ मंदिर, लिंगराज महादेव मंदिर, कोणार्क सूर्य मंदिर के दर्शन का सौभाग्‍य भी प्राप्‍त हुआ और इन दर्शनों के माध्‍यम से भारत की विशाल पुरातन संस्‍कृति एवं सभ्‍यताओं को जानने का भी अवसर मिला। पूरे प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम के दौरान प्रतिभागियों के परस्‍पर संवाद से कई नई-नई बातें जानने का सुअवसर प्राप्‍त हुआ।

       मैं जब कभी भी प्रशिक्षण प्राप्‍त करने अथवा प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करने के लिए प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रमों में जाता हूँ तो एक ही बात सोचता हूँ कि भारत सरकार के कार्यालयों के अधिकारियों/कर्मचारियों के लिए प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रमों की सफलता प्रशिक्षक और प्रशिक्षणार्थियों के बीच संवाद की भाषा पर बहुत ज्‍यादा निर्भर करती है। यदि मैं प्रशिक्षक के तौर पर किसी विषय-विशेष का ज्ञान रखता हूँ और हिंदी अथवा अंग्रेज़ी अथवा हिंग्लिश के माध्‍यम से ही प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करता हूँ लेकिन सामने कुछ प्रशिक्षणार्थी किसी ऐसे प्रदेश से संबंध रखते हैं जहां हिंदी अथवा अंग्रेज़ी अथवा हिंग्लिश का प्रयोग नहीं होता है तो प्रशिक्षक का ज्ञान उसके उसके मन-मस्तिष्‍क में कम और उसके आसपास से ज्‍यादा जाने लगता है। ऐसे में, मैं सोचता हूँ कि यदि एक राज्‍य विशेष के अधिकारियों/कर्मचारियों के लिए ही प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाएं और प्रशिक्षक भी उसी राज्‍य विशेष के हों और वे उस राज्‍य विशेष की मुख्‍य भाषा में प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करें तो प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रमों की उपयोगिता और सफलता कई गुना बढ़ जाएगी। अब यहां पर यह सवाल भी उठ सकता है कि केंद्रीय सरकार के अधिकारियों/कर्मचारियों को हिंदी अथवा अंग्रेजी अथवा दोनों भाषाओं के माध्‍यम से काम करना होता है और प्रशिक्षण सामग्रियां (दस्‍तावेज़/पीपीटी प्रस्‍तुती आदि) इन्‍हीं दो भाषाओं में हो सकती हैं। इसी स्थिति को ध्‍यान में रखते हुए ही मैंने ऊपर कहा है कि जिस राज्‍य में स्थित केंद्रीय सरकार के कार्यालयों के अधिकारियों/कर्मचारियों को प्रशिक्षण प्रदान किया जाना है उसी राज्‍य के ही प्रशिक्षक अपनी भाषा में प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करें भले ही प्रशिक्षण सामग्री अंग्रेज़ी अथवा हिंदी अथवा दोनों भाषाओं में ही क्‍यों नहीं हो। राष्‍ट्रीय उत्‍पादकता परिषद् के प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम में भी मैंने अपने विचार की पुष्टि होते हुए देखी जब स्‍क्रीन पर पीपीटी प्रस्‍तुती तथा प्रशिक्षण सामग्री अंग्रेज़ी में मौजूद थी लेकिन ओडिशा स्थित केंद्रीय सरकार के कार्यालयों के प्रतिभागी स्‍थानीय प्रशिक्षकों से उडि़या भाषा के माध्‍यम से संवाद कर अपने प्रश्‍नों का उत्‍तर और अधिक बेहतर ढंग से प्राप्‍त कर रहे थे।

       यह लेख ‘ज्ञान-गंगा’ में डुबकी की अविस्‍मरणीय यात्रा एवं इसके अविस्‍मरणीय पथिकों को समर्पित है।
