Amnesty International was established
on 28 May 1961, with its headquarters at London, by Peter Benson, a British
lawyer. A worldwide organization, it investigates violations of human rights.
It campaigns for the release of all prisoners of conscience, provided they have
not used or advocated violence, fair, and prompt trails for all prisoners, and
abolition of torture and capital punishment. It now has more than 1,100,000
members in over 150 countries, with 6,000 local groups in 70 countries in Africa,
the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. It won the Nobel Prize for Peace
in 1977.

ReplyDeleteपीटर बेनसन, ब्रिटिश अधिवक्ता द्वारा 28 मई, 1961 को एमनेस्टी इंटरनेशनल की स्थापना की गई। इसका मुख्यालय लंदन में है। यह एक विश्वव्यापी संगठन है। यह मानवाधिकारों के उल्लंघनों की जांच करती है। यह सभी राजनैतिक कैदियों की आजादी के लिए अभियान चलाती है। यह एक अहिंसा प्रेमी संस्थान है, जो सभी कैदियों के लिए निष्पक्ष एवं शीघ्र कार्रवाई करती है तथा यह संगठन अत्याचार व मृत्यु दंड का उन्मूलन करता है। अफ्रीकीए अमेरिका एशिया, यूरोप और मध्य पूर्व के 70 देशों के 6000 स्थानीय समूहों को मिलाकर 150 से अधिक देशों में इसके लगभग 1,100,000 से अधिक सदस्य हैं। एमनेस्टी इंटरनेशनल ने वर्ष 1977 में नोबल पुरस्कार जीता था।
